Hello! I'm Paul, a musical director and keyboard player living in Winnipeg, but I've been fortunate to play in pits across the country. Between theatre contracts, I perform as Principal Keyboard of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra.
I completed my M.Mus in Winnipeg, Manitoba and made the city my home in 2020. Since then, I've worked as musical director on Rock of Ages (Rainbow Stage), Murder for Two (RMTC), Fame, and Spongebob (Winnipeg Studio Theatre). I've assisted on productions of Mary Poppins, Rent, The Little Mermiad (Rainbow Stage), and The Sound of Music (RMTC).
In 2022, I was the music intern at the Shaw Festival in Ontario. There, I subbed on White Christmas, Damn Yankees, A Year With Frog and Toad and 1922. Under the mentorship of MD Paul Sportelli, I also gained experience in orchestration, arranging and keyboard programming.
Elsewhere in Canada, I've been musical director of Tell Me On A Sunday, A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline, White Christmas, The Last Five Years and a fabulous little kid's show called Rock 'n Fables.
But that's not all! The last two years have been full of collaboration and exploration. I contributed live sounds on a few multi-media art projects with my colleague Andrew Bell, performed regularly with my jazz trio, and played for a number of one-off projects. Directing and accompanying choirs is something I'm always doing when I can, I've been lucky to work with many over the past decade.
